Adhan
[ʔaˈðaːn]
1. The call to prayer intoned or proclaimed by the muezzin (caller to prayer) from the minaret or roof of a mosque at the prescribed times of the day which include the five obligatory daily prayers.
2. It is also traditionally whispered into the ear of a newborn to attest the oneness of God.

How this term should be used
Adhan or call to prayer can be used interchangeably. Any of the above spelling variants is acceptable but consistency should be checked.
The Adhan, or call to prayer, is recited in Arabic before each of the five daily prayers by a muezzin (caller), who must stand facing Mecca. It is also traditionally whispered into the ear of a newborn to welcome them into the Muslim community.
The Adhan In Sunni Islam
ٱللَّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ
Allahu akbar (4x): God is greater [than everything]
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ
ašhadu ʾal lā ʾilāha ʾilla -llāh (2x): I witness that there is no God but God
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ
ʾašhadu ʾanna Muḥammadan rasūl -allāh (2x): I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God
حَيَّ عَلَىٰ ٱلصَّلَاةِ
ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāh (2x): Come to prayer
حَيَّ عَلَىٰ ٱلْفَلَاحِ
ḥayya ʿalā l-falāḥ (2x): Come to salvation
ٱللَّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ
ʾAllāhu ʾakbar (2x): God is greater than everything
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ
lā ʾilāha ʾillā -llāhu: There is no diety except God.
