Briefing for IPSO: Reporting on Islam and Muslims in UK press
The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is the independent regulator for the newspaper and magazine industry in the UK. It is the body responsible for holding newspapers and magazines to account for their actions as well as protecting individual rights, upholding high standards of journalism and helping to maintain freedom of expression for the press. The following document was submitted to IPSO with the intention of highlighting the media representation of Muslims in the UK Press (Print and Online news websites), as well as suggesting areas where the Regulator could focus and improve in holding to account the misinformation and distortion of Muslims and Islam.
