Helping Communities To Engage With The Media

We all know the media can be a force for good when responsible reporting practises are adhered to by journalists. Sadly, the Muslim community has to deal with the backlash resulting from inaccurate and sometimes biased reporting.  CfMM aims to change that.

At CfMM, we are committed to empowering UK Muslim communities to proactively and effectively engage with the media to help change the current narrative around Muslims and Islam.

Media Complaints Training

How many times have you seen a misleading or problematic headline on Muslims? What did you do about it? The fact is, unless you are aware of the guidelines for media complaints, your letter to the editor may not have the outcome you want!

We provide training to communities and organisations to empower you to make timely and effective complaints. In less than 10 minutes, you can make a complaint that will get noticed and get changes made.

For further information and to book a training session, please see the “Complaints Submission Guidelines” section.

Media Skills Training

Has your mosque or organisation ever been approached by the media for a comment on an event or news item? Were you able to provide a well-spoken representative to put forward your views? Are you able to engage with the media to promote your team’s work in the wider community?

Centre For Media Monitoring is able to provide training on Media Engagement Skills, including interview tips and techniques, press release writing, and responding to challenging questions. We can tailor our training to your organisation’s particular needs.

For further details contact our Community Liaison Officer here a.morris@cfmm.org.uk.
